Meet Vinny | Capital District Moms

Where are you originally from and how long have you lived in the Capital District?
I have lived in the Capital District all my life.  I stayed in the Capital District for college as well and attended Siena College.  I love the area and have never regretted the decision to stay local!

How many children do you have?
I have two beautiful children. Roman who is three years old and has an insane amount of energy. He keeps us on our toes! Mia is one year old. She is very strong willed and a determined little girl! I secretly refer to her as our warrior princess!

What is your favorite thing about being a dad?
Everything! There are so many things I could talk about but my absolute favorite is being able to share in the “Firsts” with my children. First steps, First words, First time eating ice cream, First ride at an amusement park…..All the Firsts!

What is one thing people would be surprised to know about you?
I’m really handy and love fixing things up around the house! My time is limited right now though so I typically have to hire contractors for most projects.

Where is your favorite place to go as a family in the Capital District?
We love going to Indian Ladder Farms! The kids love the animals and we love the beer garden!

Where is your favorite place to go out to dinner in the Capital District?
Did I mention that we have a three year old and a one year old?!? We don’t go out to dinner that much, but if we did it would be to Caffe Italia! There is not a bad dish on the menu and it is an Albany staple!

What is one piece of advise that you would pass along to other dads?
It is trial and error.  There is no handbook. Do the best you can and enjoy every single minute!

When/Where was your first gig as a DJ?
Christian Brothers Academy (CBA) Homecoming in 1997. We had over 300 students show up and it was the best homecoming dance the school has ever had! From that night, I fell in love with rocking parties! The thrill of everyone jumping up and down and getting hyped over the music I was playing was intoxicating.

How long have you been a DJ for?
I have been a DJ for 22 years now. Although we really don’t jockey discs anymore and are considered event hosts. I made the decision to make this my full time career about six years ago. I absolutely love what I do so it never feels like work to me. I also love having the flexibility to be home with my kids more.

What was your first CD/tape?
Metallica, Black Album.  I played the song “Nothing Else Matters” on repeat!

Do you DJ other events besides weddings? Do you provide any other services?
Yes, we perform for private events, life moments, corporate events etc. We offer a full range of services including lighting, a photo booth and multimedia.
