The 1st Annual Capital Region Poetry Slam is takin

The 1st Annual Capital Region Poetry Slam is taking place @doanestuart on April 18th! The contest is open to students in grades 9-12 and entries are due by March 31st. ⁣⁣

Register today for your chance to perform your original poem for an acclaimed judges panel and win one of 3 cash prizes - $500 (1st place), $250 (2nd place), and $100 (3rd place)! ⁣⁣
⁣⁣
Judges include: David Yezzi (notable poet, Doane Stuart alum, and John Hopkins professor), James Preller (local author of Jigsaw Jones and many more), Julie Chapman (Spectrum News anchor & author of Witches, Bats, & Mystical Cats), Kevin Calacone (Schohaire Principal), & Tricia Steck (Rennselaer & SUNY University in the Classroom English Teacher). It's going to be an enjoyable evening of poetry and community...register by March 31st and make plans to attend on April 18th!⁣⁣

Now offering a NEW program for younger kids as wel

Now offering a NEW program for younger kids as well as the original teen program. Younger kids ages 8-12 can now participate in our "Junior" Camp production. Both camp programs will be three week, full day camps (running 7/3 - 7/21) and will culminate to age appropriate, full Broadway-style productions performed at the end of the three week session (Friday 7/21 and Saturday 7/22). Students of all ages will learn acting skills, vocal skills, and choreography as well as the design elements of putting together a production through theater games, rehearsals, prop/costume/set design sessions, and many other activities with professionals in the Capital Region theatrical community. ⁣

Both camps run 7/3 - 7/21 (9am - 3pm) at the Albany Barn (56 Second Street, Albany, NY). Before Care and After Care is provided. Financial Aid is also available to help with the cost of the program.
