Summer is an exciting, yet important time for high school students to get curious about their future. Whether they are finishing 9th, 10th, or 11th grade, “what comes next?” is most certainly on their minds (and the minds of their parents, too). For students who are ready for more, from academics to internships, to creating their own artistic work or honing their research skills in a lab, Curiosity Camp at Simon’s Rock provides motivated students with the opportunity to explore their academic and creative interests in a college environment.
During the two-week camp, students will experience a “day-in-the-life” as a college student, with the support, guidance, and supervision of faculty, staff, and professional residence life staff. Students will participate daily in Simon’s Rock’s signature Writing and Thinking Workshop, Seminar, and arts and science classes, experiencing a wide range of topics and opportunities. The program’s cohort of 30 students allows for small class sizes, collaborative and individualized experiences, and greater engagement between students and faculty and among peers.
Evenings will be filled with time for structured recreation options, as well as more casual options of using the Student Union and residential lounge spaces. On the weekend, students will go on field trips to local recreational areas and historic sites in the scenic Berkshires of western Massachusetts.
Students live on campus at Bard College at Simon’s Rock in Great Barrington, MA to get a taste of living in a dorm, sharing meals with peers at the dining hall, participating in a diverse array of classes, utilizing the state of the art Kilpatrick Athletic Center for exercise and wellbeing, and enjoying our 270-acre wooded campus of beauty and nature trails.
